The FISSTC was set up at the start of the academic year 20-21 by a group of students wishing to extend the research opportunities available at FIS. The founding group of students: Sifan WU, Seoyoung SONG, Deoyun LEE, Ikseo JIN, and Woojun LEE started working on their own projects to extend their learning, alongside working with the school to improve facilities and opportunities in STEM.

In recognition of their efforts, and particularly Woojun's personal drive to develop the FIS STC, Woojun Lee was presented with the FIS PTG Leadership Award (one of only four awards given at graduation).

"The PTG Leadership Award recognizes a student who has used their intellect, initiative, creativity and character to enrich and bring impactful, long-lasting change to a team, club or group."
